Food security is one of the biggest challenges facing Somalia and the main factor is underinvested agricultural sector in the country. After years of civil strife and absent state planning and support, farmers are struggling to produce. Against this background, Tamkin Foundation provides support for the development of the agricultural sector including building key infrastructure (i.e. canals and irrigation systems), provision of farming equipment and generators, distributing seeds, promoting modern agricultural practices through training and awareness raising, and helping farmers to safely fight with insects and other harmful diseases destroying their crops.
