Somalia has been lacking a strong central government for over 25 years in which no investment has been made in water systems especially in rural areas of the country. As a result, agro-pastoral communities in some parts of the country are facing an existential threat to get a reliable source of water supply for their own drinking, farming, and animals. Against this backdrop, Tamkin Foundation has been working tirelessly to improve the water supply infrastructure in remote and rural areas throughout Somalia by building and rehabilitating water dams, boreholes, and wells. As a result of these efforts, Tamkin Foundation built or rehabilitated up to 30 boreholes and wells throughout many regions in Somalia including Lower Shabelle, Middle Shabelle, Bay, Hiiraan, Togdheer, W. Galbeed.
